"I love to create a visual element that encapsulates an emotion, memory or space that reflects the individual. I draw inspiration purely from life’s experiences and the environment." (Selina Hitches)
"In my work I introduce the audience to materials that they have grown accustomed to seeing in cold, utilitarian, unsympathetic ways. My goal is to take the viewer beyond the materials by transforming something impersonal and inanimate into something that is both physically and emotionally beautiful, that encourages a moment of reflection."(Selina Hitches)

Selina Hitches is an internationally renowned sculptor and curator, holding such accolades as having been the curator and organiser of the XI FIP World Polo Championship Art Exhibition - Sydney 2017 and the "Valley Reflections" exhibition with Emirates One & Only Wolgan Valley 2017-2018.
Sculpting from her studio at the foothills of The Blue Mountains, Australia, Hitches was drawn to the emotive and influential nature of art, expressing that 'art is a form of communication with the ability to cross and break down barriers, sharing the voices and experiences of the individual in a way that can be as powerful, if not more powerful than spoken and written language'. She celebrates the dialogue that art can create as 'the audience is not simply a passive consumer', but an 'active participant', as 'both the artist and the viewer come together in the meaning making process'. Hitches believes in the ability of art to connect individuals and cultures and she is passionate about fostering this in her art practice and curation, celebrating diversity and inclusion.
